Internship Information for Employers
Posting a Position
We encourage employers to list part-time and full-time internships with us. We use the term “internship” rather loosely to mean accounting-related work experience. Students have the option to receive academic credit for the experience but it is not required. No special academic tasks are necessary on the part of employers. The positions can be part-time or full-time. Many of the public accounting firms offer full-time internships during “busy season” and students take the spring semester off from school (January-April) in order to work. These students typically then go to school in the summer. Some employers, especially those in the East Lansing surrounding area, hire our students on a part-time basis so they can both work and go to school at the same time. Most popular with our students is a full-time summer internship that provides both an accounting-related learning experience and opportunity to earn money for the following school year.
Listing an internship is easy and can be done at any time. Simply complete the Company Information Form and fax or email it to us. We will post the position, collect resumes of those who are interested and send these to you. Employers then contact those students that they are interested in for an employment interview. Most employers conduct the interview at their place of business but we can also arrange for an interview room here on campus in our Lear Career Services Center.
