2009 Midwest Accounting Research Conference
The 2009 Midwest Accounting Conference will be hosted by the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at Michigan State University on Friday, June 5, 2009 and Saturday, June 6, 2009 at The Henry Center on the campus of Michigan State University. Accounting faculties and Ph.D. students from the following schools are invited for the 2009 Midwest Accounting Research Conference. You may direct questions to any of the faculty coordinators listed below.

Hotel Accommodation Information
2009 Midwest Accounting Research Conference
Candlewood Suites, Lansing, MI
Conference participants pay for transportation and lodging, and the host school pays for meals. The hotel rate is $89 per night for Studio Suites and $109 per night for 1-Bedroom Suites. The 1-Bedroom Suites (with a separate pull down bed) can be comfortably shared by two people. A limited number of rooms have been reserved, but the conference rate applies as long as the hotel has rooms available. Accordingly, participants are encouraged to make their hotel reservations as soon as possible.
Reservation Procedure
All hotel reservations at Candlewood Suites must be made by May 10, 2009 in order to be guaranteed the group discount rate and be accompanied by a credit card deposit. Reservations are subject to the group's room block availability. Please refer to the Group Block Name (2009 Midwest Accounting Research Conference) when contacting Candlewood Suites. Changes in arrival date must be made by 4:00 PM, 24-hours before the arrival date, by calling the hotel directly at (517) 351-8181 or a charge of one night's lodging plus applicable tax will apply to the credit card or master account. Additionally, a change affecting the length of stay requires an advance notice of 48-hours. Credit cards that Candlewood Suites can accept at this time are American Express, Diners Club, Discover Card, MasterCard, and VISA. Lodging requests made after the cut-off date will be confirmed on a space and rate available basis. The hotel's phone number is (517) 351-8181.
Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12:00 noon. Requests for early arrivals, late check-outs, or specific room assignments will be honored only if availability permits. A surcharge equivalent to a half-day rate will be charged for each unapproved late check-out.

Nearest Airports
The nearest airport is in Lansing. Taxis are located outside the terminal or can be called.
Another option is the Detroit airport (DTW), which is about 85 miles from the hotel. Please review map for information on road repair work. In addition to renting a car, you may use MichiganFlyer, which will drop you off at University Place Marriott in East Lansing. If you are planning to use MichiganFlyer, please let Chris Hogan or K. Ramesh know so that we can arrange transportation for you to the hotel.
Important Hotel Party Policy
"Candlewood Suites will not tolerate any misuse of their suites or excessive noise… Any damages… or blatant misuse of the suite will result in additional fees to be determined by management and the potential assistance of law enforcement officers." The coordinators understand that discussions regarding endogeneity, alternative explanations, measurement error, marginal contribution, etc. can lead to late night arguments. We request that you follow the hotel guidelines to avoid interacting with law enforcement officials.
