2010/11 Undergraduate Scholarship Awards

A large number of $500 and $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate accounting majors for the 2010/11 academic year. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring semester of 2010 and will generally be applied against the recipient's fall, 2010 tuition bill. Scholarship funds come from endowment earnings, designated gifts, and general contributions to the Department.
Application eligibility requirements:
- Full time enrollment as a BA candidate in accounting for at least one term of the next academic year.
- Accounting majors who have completed ACC 201 by the end of fall semester, 2008, are eligible for awards of up to $500. Accounting majors with at least three MSU accounting courses completed (201, 202, and either 300, 321, 331, or 341) are eligible for larger awards.
- Transfer student accounting majors who have earned a minimum of 15 credits (with at least 3 credits in accounting) at MSU by the end of fall semester, 2008, are also eligible. Those who have completed at least one accounting course at MSU are eligible for awards of up to $500, while those who have completed at least two 300 or 400 level MSU accounting courses are eligible for larger awards.
- A student may not receive more than one departmental scholarship during any academic year.
- Students who received a departmental scholarship in a prior year are eligible.
- Undergraduate student assistants are eligible.
Selection criteria:
- Accounting GPA and overall GPA.
- Participation and leadership roles in University and community organizations, and other extracurricular activities.
- Writing skills, based on application essay.
- Personal challenges and responsibilities.
Scholarship award selections are made by the Department Chairperson and the Undergraduate Scholarships Committee of the Department of Accounting & Information Systems.
