This fall, as Michigan State celebrates its Sesquicentennial, the Broad School is well on its way to an ambitious $125 million goal as part of the university's capital campaign. According to the Broad School's Senior Director of Development, Brenda Wilson-Hale, "The school's vision of enhancing intellectual capital to strengthen academic disciplines continues to drive its fundraising efforts. The quality of the Broad learning community — its faculty, staff, students and alumni — moves the school forward and allows it to build and maintain prominent programs." During the 2004-05 fiscal year, the Broad School raised $23.2 million dollars, which increased its total gifts and commitments to $91,930,262. The amount is up 34 percent from last year's fiscal balance of $68,601,443. The Campaign for MSU passes $1 billion milestone In August of 2005, Michigan State University announced that "The Campaign for MSU," an ambitious fund-raising project that began nearly three years ago, surpassed the $1 billion mark. The project, publicly launched by the MSU Board of Trustees on Sept. 20, 2002, had set a goal to reach $1.2 billion by 2007. MSU is now among an elite group of universities that have reached the milestone of raising $1 billion from private sources. One of the areas of focus for "The Campaign for MSU" is to raise much-needed money for endowments, with the sub-goal of adding $450 million to MSU's endowment. So far, $274.5 million has been raised.
