Broad School Honors and Awards

New Supply Chain Management MS degree introduced

The Broad School recently developed a new Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (SCM) program, designed for working professionals who wish to expand their supply chain knowledge. The new degree program replaces the former Master of Science in Logistics and the former Master of Science in Manufacturing and Innovation, while combining the best features of both programs with a new emphasis on procurement.

“It is an innovative blend of in-residency classes and e-learning segments from one of the premier supply chain management programs in the world,” says David Closs, program codirector and The John H. McConnell Chair in Business Administration. “Students can specialize in logistics, operations or procurement to make our program fit their specific needs.”

The program requires a minimum of 36 credits taken over either 19 or 31 months. The in-residence modules run for 12 days, starting Sunday evening and ending Friday afternoon. They are scheduled in May and August during each of two academic years.

In-residence classes include case studies, breakout sessions and simulation assignments featuring stateof- the-art programs. Classes are held at the James B. Henry Center for Executive Development.

Technology is used to leverage the learning experience and provide maximum flexibility. E-learning modules are scheduled in the fall and spring semesters between in-residencies and include class material, literature review, interactive case participation, simulations, software applications and interactive discussions.

Admission requirements include an undergraduate degree and a minimum of two years of related work experience; a grade point average of at least 3.0 in the last two years of undergraduate work; Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores submitted to the Broad School; and three letters of recommendation.
