Broad School Honors and Awards
Executive development, hospitality expertise drive managers’ success

Participants and presenters in the Broad School's Air Force Advanced Business Management Program
While all executive development programs aim to return value to participants’ businesses, sometimes the impact is difficult to measure. That’s why the recent awards earned by two club managers in the Broad School’s Air Force Advanced Club Management Program seem to be particularly powerful reminders of how business schools can contribute to the operational excellence of working professionals.
An alumnus of the Broad School program, Charles Mullins, the general manager of Lackland Gateway Club Complex in Texas, recently won the Civilian of the Year Award. Another, Merilyn Gove, enlisted club manager for Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, won the 2006 Best Enlisted Club in the Air Force.
Over the last five years, nearly 100 managers of U.S. Air Force Clubs from around the world have had the opportunity to participate in the program led by the faculty of The School of Hospitality Business under the direction of the Air Force Services Agency in San Antonio, Texas. The program includes comprehensive sessions in food production, human resources, customer service, finance, marketing, technology and leadership techniques, as well as two field trip events to private and public sector clubs.
