The Business of Culture: Strategic Perspectives on Entertainment and Media – Jamal Shamsie, assistant professor of Management, and co-editors Joseph Lampel of London’s City University and Theresa K. Lant of New York University, compiled current research in the fields of strategy, organization theory, marketing, economics, sociology and communication. Their perspective is that the strategic issues faced by cultural entities – motion picture and music studios, television and radio networks, video game manufacturers and multimedia outlets – are becoming increasingly relevant to a broad cross-section of managers across a wide range of industries.

Managing for Quality in the Hospitality Industry and Managing Service in Food and Beverage Operations Third Edition – Director and Professor of The School of Hospitality Business Ronald F. Cichy and co-author John H. King, Jr., president and CEO of HDS Services, use case studies, real-world examples and other techniques for assessing and implementing quality programs and processes. In addition, Cichy and co-author Philip J. Hickey, Jr., chairman and CEO of RARE Hospitality International, Inc., have updated their Managing Service in Food and Beverage Operations with menu trends, responsible alcohol service and a new chapter on bioterrorism.

Supply Chain Logistics Management – Marketing and Supply Chain Management faculty members Donald J. Bowersox, The John H. McConnell University Professor of Business Administration; David J. Closs, The John H. McConnell Chair in Business Administration; and M. Bixby Cooper, associate professor, have just published the second edition of Supply Chain Logistics Management. The book, part of the Irwin Operations and Decision Sciences Series from McGraw- Hill, is used primarily at the graduate level and has been translated into 10 languages.

Winning the 3-Legged Race: When Business and Technology Run TogetherVallabh Sambamurthy, Eli Broad Professor of Information Technology in Accounting and Information Systems, has collaborated in producing a book to help corporations explore fundamentally better ways of managing business and technology together. He produced the book in his role as one of the co-chairs of the Global Research Council for the BTM Institute-the Michael Nobel Harriet Fulbright Institute of Business Technology Management. Sambamurthy’s co-authors were Faisal Hoque, founder and chairman of Enamics, Inc., and of the BTM Institute, Robert Zmud, the Michael F. Price Chair in MIS, University of Oklahoma-Michael F. Price College of Business; Tom Trainer, PepsiCo senior vice president and chief information officer; and Carl Wilson, executive vice president and chief information officer, Marriott International, Inc.
