Coble Scripts a Balanced Life
When you have a demanding job as deputy press secretary for Dearborn’s (Mich.) mayor, it can be tough to keep from shortchanging other priorities. But Randy Coble (Weekend MBA ’04) blends career, family and art into a busy but balanced life. The veteran actor recently starred in a film about a young executive who faces the truth about his priorities.
“Good movies tell good stories,” says Coble. “This is a powerful portrait of a guy who discovers that what he thought was important to him isn’t.” Filmmakers Gabriel Guido and Scott Regan originally envisioned the character as a University of Michigan business school graduate, but tailored the script after spotting Coble’s Weekend MBA briefcase and learning that he was a Broad School Weekend MBA alumnus. Coble is now up for the lead in a film about Vietnam veterans and is the movie’s publicity and fundraising consultant. All of this comes on top of work and family – wife, Carolyn, and daughter, Reese. “A full life is good,” Coble says. “If it were all work, that would feel unbalanced.” |
