Marshall Scholars named
A Broad School senior has been recognized for his outstanding academic and civic achievements with one of the world’s most prestigious scholarships for international study - the Marshall Scholarship.

Jared English of Jackson, a member of the MSU Honors College, has been named a Marshall Scholar for 2004 and will use this major award to study in the United Kingdom. He is MSU’s 9th Marshall Scholar since the Marshall scholarships were enacted in 1953.

The Marshall Scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated academic excellence and leadership potential. It covers tuition costs, books and living expenses for two to three years at a British university. English is an international relations major in the James Madison College and a finance major in the Broad School.

The two-day trek agenda also included an alumni reception, hosted by Goldman Sachs. The reception attracted Chicago-area Finance alumni and friends, representing over 20 financial firms.

Thanks go to members of the Broad School’s Finance Advisory Board members Paula Rogers, senior VP, Institutional Capital Corporation; and Ted Neely (MBA ’84), VP, FICC Global Money Markets, Goldman Sachs, who provided their support to this successful student/alumni event.
