Broad Executive Forum hosts capacity crowd
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer spoke to a sell-out crowd at the Broad School's Executive Forum, December 1, in Troy, Michigan, where he delivered the keynote address on the theme, "Customer focused innovation." The transcript of his presentation is available on the Microsoft website at: http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/exec/steve/2004/12-01MSU.asp.

The Broad Executive Forum, now in its 39th year, is the annual project of Detroit area business alumni who serve on the Forum board.

Business alumni directory project wraps up as books and CD-ROMs deliver
The delivery of nearly 1,600 printed alumni directories and CD-ROM formatted directories closed a year-long project to update the Broad alumni database. The project was sponsored by the Broad Alumni Association. PCI, the data company that handled the project, reported that more than 15,000 changes were made in the database information.

The directories were pre-ordered and pre-paid by alumni customers. To protect privacy, directories are not sold to non-alumni nor does the data company retain any of the data records.

Broad's community-minded students spearhead efforts to feed area hungry
This fall the efforts of the Broad School's undergraduate and MBA students raised nearly 165 tons of food to feed hungry people in Mid-Michigan. On-line donations by alumni contributed to the MBA effort.

In November, Broad's MBA students competed in the national MBA Food Fight, a competition they have won every year since 1999. Coordinated by the MBA Association, the full time MBAs topped their 2003 record by 43.80%, raising food and funds equivalent of 328,673 pounds of food. Broad School MBAs took first place for total collections and total collected per student among the 19 MBA programs participating. The food will be distributed by the local American Red Cross and Second Harvest Gathering organizations.

The annual undergraduate Project Green Canned Food Drive delivered turkeys and canned goods to a local food bank in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Broad MBAs place third in global innovation competition
