Reunion tradition adopts Kedzie name!
New name - same great tradition! That was the consensus among alumni who attended the June 5-6 reunions to celebrate the induction of the Class of 1953 at the MSU Kedzie Reunion (formerly known as the Patriarchs' Reunion).

Alumni from the Class of 1953 and earlier took part in two days of college-specific and university-wide events.

Co-chairperson and emcee for the June 5 kick off reception honoring business alumni was Duane Vernon BA '53, Business Administration, and 2002 recipient of the MSU Alumni Service Award. Honorary co-chairperson was Fred S. Addy, BA '53, Business Administration and M.S. '57, Marketing. Addy and his wife, Marilyn, were recipients of the 2002 MSU Philanthropist Award.

Patriarchs' of The School of Hospitality Business meet for their traditional reunion breakfast on June 6 before heading off for a day of Kedzie Reunion activities.

Closer to home, over 40 MBAs and summer MBA interns in Southeast Michigan met for the second annual Detroit Area MBA Reception, June 12, in Berkley.

MBA alumni in Minneapolis-St. Paul attended a June 16 reception hosted by program staff member Kristen Hintz. About 20 MBAs working in the twin cities attended.

Some 100 alumni of the Weekend MBA and the Executive MBA, took part in their annual golf scramble tournaments on June 7 and June 9, respectively. Weekend MBAs played the Hartland Glen; Exec MBA foursomes turned out at the Links of Novi.

Responding to an exclusive invitation from the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA), nearly 30 Broad MBA alumni registered for the June 26 Town Hall Meeting. Speakers and panelists are set to examine the North American auto industry business model. Executive MBA alumni Tom VanderLaan, Neil DeKokker (OESA President), and John Chalifoux were instrumental in securing the special invitation for Broad MBAs.

The Weekend MBA Alumni Forum will meet August 19, at the Red Cedar Grill in Williamston. Contact the Weekend MBA office or call for more information, 517-355-7603.

The annual MBA Association Golf Outing for employers, alumni and current MBA students has been scheduled for Friday, September 19 at Forest Akers East with a shotgun start at 1pm. Immediately following the tournament, there will be a picnic banquet and awards ceremony at Forest Akers West. Plan now to come back to East Lansing, meet members of the Classes of 2004 and 2005, and have some fun. For more information, email Steve Currie.

If you're an alumnus of the full-time MBA Class of 1997, be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, Nov. 1, for this class reunion. Alumni recruiters boost Summer 2003 internships
Summer internships for Broad MBAs neared the 100% mark as 95% of the first year students headed for domestic and overseas assignments. "We have students working in Brazil, Germany and Liechtenstein as well as throughout the US," reports MBA Placement Director Helen Dashney. She credits strong alumni support for the higher 2003 placements.

While companies have demonstrated a commitment to internship hiring for short-term projects, Dashney says, the Placement and Career Center is keeping the recruiting process active for new alumni. Recruiters can find full-time talent from the MBA FT Class of 2003 by contacting mbapcc@msu.edu or calling 517-432-3626 for resumes and hiring information.

Use the power of the Internet to build the Broad network
In these tight budget times, email and Internet communications are providing the no printing, no postage vehicle to reach our alumni. But our reach is only as good as our e-distribution. You can help! Whether it's passing along this e-newletter to your alumni network with your own comments on programs and events, or sending alums to the newsletter's view and "subscribe" site, please help us promote the monthly newsletter and urge alumni to frequently visit the Broad website at www.bus.msu.edu.

If you want to unsubscribe, contact the Broad alumni office. E-mail distribution changes may take four to six weeks to become effective. Thank you for your patience.
