Austin and Dallas alumni assist with March SCM trek for MBAs
Twelve first- and second-year supply chain management (SCM) MBAs received a big Texas welcome on their treks to Dallas and Austin, March 11 and 12. The students visited Texas Instruments, Alcon Labs, Dell Computers, and Applied Materials. Alumni working in those companies hosted the students.

Thanks goes to Barbara Taylor (MBA '84) of Texas Instruments and J. Ron Barnes (MBA '74, Marketing) of Alcon, both in Dallas. In Austin students toured AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc) hosted by alumnus David Rooney (MBA '00) and Tony Manti (MBA '99); Dell Computers, hosted by Julia Lu (MBA '03) and Chris Wollam (BA '94 Marketing, MBA '98 MLM-Purchasing); and Applied Materials, hosted there by Pat (Pratap) Golla (MBA '02 Finance and Supply Chain Management), along with alumni Matthew Martenelli (BA '02 SCM) and Chris Melton (BA '99 SCM).

A reception for Austin-area business alumni followed the day's trek activities.

Broad Alumni Association hosts Naples alumni reception
Business alumni in south Florida gathered Friday, March 12, for an evening reception, and to hear "state of the college" remarks from Bob Duncan, Broad School dean.

Duncan described the impact of the recent state budget cuts on the college and MSU. "This is a particularly challenging time for us. The state has cut our budget significantly over the last two years. This has significantly reduced our ability to compete with other universities to attract and keep the best faculty and to support the kind of research that makes the Broad classroom unique. Our fundraising efforts have to fill the gap created by state cuts. We have to generate our own resources if we're going to be able to compete. We need your help," he told his audience.

Thanks to Naples-area alumnus and alumni association board member Bill Crowley, and SueAnn Crowley, for acting as local hosts for the event.
