"When we examine the problems that cause the variety of downfalls, we find three general themes that explain the majority of failures to maintain a leading enterprise: lack of agility in face of environmental threats (especially new competitors), failure to innovate when customers appear satisfied and failure to become more efficient in the presence of stable markets."
