Broad School Plasma Screen Guidelines
General guidelines:
Anyone in the college can submit text, PowerPoint slides, photos and/or videos to be displayed on the plasma screens in the North Business Complex and Eppley Center. Postings can be displayed for up to three weeks. All text/slides that are submitted should include who, what, when, where and why.
- Submitting content: If you’d like college staff to prepare the slides for you, please submit the text and photos (see photo guidelines below) to plasmascreen@bus.msu.edu by Thursday at noon for display the following Saturday. (For undergraduate events, please see special guidelines below.)
- Prepared slides: If you would like to prepare your own PowerPoint slides, please
submit them to plasmascreen@bus.msu.edu by noon Thursday for display the following Saturday.
- No more than two slides for a single topic/event can be displayed;
- There is a maximum display time of 12 seconds per slide;
- All fonts must be 28 points or larger;
- The total file size sent should be under 1 megabite;
- Sound does not play on the screens, so please do not include it;
- All slides will be reviewed by Dean’s Office staff for content and professionalism.
- Photos
- JPEG, BMP, GIF and TIFF are all acceptable formats;
- Minimum resolution: 300 dpi;
- Be aware that the screen is very wide and photos are stretched to fit the whole window;
- All photos will be reviewed before being posted.
- Videos
- MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DiVX, QUICKTIME and AVI are acceptable formats;
- Must be less then 3 minutes long;
- No sound is permitted;
- Must be hand delivered on CD to Heather Hill, room 502N, by noon Wednesday for display the following week.
Guidelines for undergraduate events:
- Please first send your event notifications (i.e. meetings, speakers, career fairs, workshops, etc.) to Jeff Yingling (yingling@msu.edu) for posting in the weekly undergraduate e-mail newsletter. These will be repeated on the plasma screens on standard college templates.
- IIf you have pictures you’d like to post with your event slide, you must send a digital version to plasmascreen@bus.msu.edu with a brief description so staff can easily link the photo with the correct announcement. (See photo guidelines above.)
- If you’d like to make your own PowerPoint slides, they must be submitted to plasmascreen@bus.msu.edu in the proper format, but only after the information is received by Jeff Yingling. (See prepared slides guidelines above.)
- Inappropriate Material - The Broad School will not broadcast any material
deemed inappropriate. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Bar crawl and/or party announcements
- Photos depicting inappropriate behavior (e.g., drinking)
- Job opportunities (job postings are already on MySpartanCareer)
- Non-business-college-related materials (roommate wanted, car for sale, etc.)
- Copyrighted material (unless you have written permission from the copyright holder)
- Registered ISOs - In order for a student organization to place announcements on the plasma screens, they must be a registered ISO with direct connections (i.e., a faculty advisor) within the business college.
