Center for Entrepreneurial Strategy (CES)
The Center for Entrepreneurial Strategy draws on all Broad School departments to promote entrepreneurial activity and growth within Michigan State University and the state of Michigan. CES focuses outreach toward two groups of entrepreneurs in order to maximize economic benefits to the state and regional economy:
Micro start-ups in the Capital Area community
Local start-ups create jobs within the community
Micro start-ups from the Capital Area community and mid-Michigan are eligible to apply for CES consulting resources. These start-ups work with students and faculty from the Broad School through entrepreneurial internships and course-consulting projects.
High-tech innovation start-ups within (or partnered with) Michigan State University.
High-tech start-ups have the potential for 200% growth and job creation in a single year
CES works in partnership with the Michigan State University Foundation and its enterprise development group, Spartan Ventures. Broad faculty offer their expertise to high-tech start-ups based on university innovations. Students are involved as Spartan Ventures Junior Associates. The Junior Associates perform market research, create product development strategy, and undertake financial research and strategy to bring the innovations to the commercial market.
In addition to outreach projects, Broad School faculty members conduct advanced research on entrepreneurship and innovation. Faculty also bring their own entrepreneurial experiences into the classroom to educate tomorrow’s entrepreneurs.
