Global Initiatives Web site

The Broad School’s Global Initiatives, with the leadership of Associate Dean Tomas Hult and MSU-CIBER as a central component, have been integrated into a new Web site launched in early April. Explore the site at global.broad.msu.edu.
The Broad School’s Global Initiatives stems from a long-standing tradition of MSU engaging in the international arena. Under the leadership of its 20th president, Lou Anna K. Simon, Michigan State University has made global awareness and engagement of our students, faculty, staff and other constituencies an institutional priority. Just as MSU helped define the "land grant" university in the 19th and 20th centuries, we are now working to define what it means to be a "world grant" university in the 21st century.
Thinking globally has always been a priority at MSU. In 1956, MSU was the first major university in the U.S. to appoint a Dean of International Programs. Since the 1950s, MSU has been the largest university recipient of U.S. Agency for International Development funding. MSU also has the top study abroad program in the nation (Institute of International Education). Additionally, more than 470,000 alumni worldwide recall the MSU experience with gratitude and pride. Leaders throughout the world highly esteem MSU for the values it brings and the solutions it offers in global contexts.
These global solutions are developed and implemented by some 1,400 faculty members at MSU who are currently involved in international research, teaching and service in more than 170 countries. The Broad School has faculty members who represent 22 countries from around the world. These faculty members are world renowned for their research on various international business topics (Management International Review, 2004) and they collectively have significant editorial influence in international business (Journal of International Business Studies, 2005). Their collective efforts will be continuously highlighted and updated on the Global Initiatives site at global.broad.msu.edu.
