The Broad School’s Supply Chain Management program was ranked 2nd overall among U.S. university supply chain programs in a report recently issued by AMR Research Inc. The firm looked to match industry needs with a university program's capability to deliver quality and quantity and found that, along with Penn State University, Broad’s SCM program lead in terms of industry value, program depth and program scope.
AMR, a research firm that focuses on global supply chains and related technology, surveyed 126 companies and 19 academic institutions to determine which U.S. programs best prepared students to manage increasingly global supply chain organizations. The universities were measured across a total of 13 metrics, which includes number of recruiting mentions, supply chain course and program offerings, and best program mentions.
"The best programs create a more fully formed supply chain professional that allows a quick transition from recruit to being a productive member of their new organization," said David Aquino, research director at AMR Research and lead author on the report.
Supply Chain Management Professor and The John H. McConnell Chair in Business Administration David Closs says he is pleased with this new report. "Any time your program is ranked highly, it’s good, but this particular report means a lot because it says that the companies that are hiring our students are happy with what we’re doing."
Other highly ranked programs were Arizona State, Ohio State, MIT, University of Tennessee and Georgia Tech.
