Associate Professor of Accounting and Information Systems Matthew Anderson is one of the five recipients nationally of the Ernst & Young Inclusive Excellence Award for Accounting and Business School Faculty.
The company believes a diverse college campus paves the way for an inclusive work environment and is critical to success in today’s global economy. This award was created to honor accounting and business school faculty members who have had a significant impact on diversity and inclusiveness within the business school.
Many of Anderson’s peers recommended him for the award. Based on the award criteria, their recommendations showed that he made a significant contribution to building inclusive excellence in the business school community through innovative teaching, research and/or program development – specifically as it relates to addressing diversity and inclusiveness issues.
Anderson also provides significant mentorship and support to students, staff and faculty colleagues who represent a particular segment of diversity within the university; strives to increase the career and personal development opportunities for students and/or faculty who represent a particular segment of diversity within the university; and is actively involved with students on an individual basis or with diverse business organizations of which some members are in the business school.
His teaching emphasis is in the financial area, and he has taught at the doctoral, masters and undergraduate levels. His research is concerned with the use of accounting information in firm valuation at the individual level, and with the interface between individual and market level decisions in economic settings. Anderson received his PhD at Michigan State University.
