Junior Year
Assess yourself:
- Visit the MSU Career Development Center located in the Student Services building and arrange to take several career/occupation tests.
Use your Resources:
- Meet with a Lear Center advisor to narrow down your chosen career field.
- Speak with faculty and staff members about specializations and current trends in your field of interest.
- Revise your resume and prepare to attend the Career Gallery held during early October.
- Use all your resources to secure a summer internship or co-operative position.
- Work closely with the Lear Center as you search for employment.
Build your Network:
- Make contact with professionals in your areas of interest.
- Utilize the MSU Alumni Association to seek out mentors in your field.
- Conduct informational interviews with professionals in your field.
Gain Valuable Experience:
- Take a variety of business related electives to enhance your skills.
- Complete an internship or co-op.
- Sign-up for a "Mock Interview" at the Lear Center.
Get Involved:
- Join and participate in student organizations directly related to your major.
- Take a leadership role in a student organization.
- Volunteer for opportunities through the MSU Service Learning Office.
Prepare for the Future:
- Look at the senior year planner, what should you do to prepare yourself?
- Request letters of recommendation from your internship/co-op supervisors
- Update your resume with your internship/co-op position descriptions.
- Research potential full-time employers and career positions.
