Assess yourself:
- If appropriate, complete graduate school applications and entrance exams.
- Narrow your job search, by considering industry, field, location, and pay.
Use your Resources:
- Meet with a Lear Center advisor to review your resume and discuss your full-time job search strategy.
- Attend career development workshops offered by the Lear Center and the MSU Career Development Center.
- Update your myspartancareer profile.
- Develop cover letters and other business correspondence.
- Attend the "Meal Etiquette" workshop.
Build your Network:
- Maintain and solidify your professional references.
- Use your personal and professional networks for job search assistance.
- Request letters of recommendation from faculty members and supervisors.
Gain Valuable Experience:
- Sign-up for a "Mock Interview" at the Lear Center.
- Attend employer presentations and ALL career fairs.
- Attend the Career Gallery held in early October.
- Interview for as many positions as possible.
Get Involved:
- Take a leadership role in a student organization.
- Mentor younger students in your major.
- Join professional organizations in your field.
- Read professional journals in your field.
Prepare for the Future:
- Prepare for your full-time position.
- Send formal thanks to your references.
- Inform the Lear Center about your full-time employment plans.
- Join the MSU Alumni Association.
