According to a study conducted by faculty at the University of Florida, the Broad School's Management faculty place in the top five in the nation in terms of research output.

Course Override Policy

Override E-mail Request Instructions:

The department accepts requests by e-mail only. Please note that we do not send a confirmation that your request was received. Requests MUST contain the following information in order to be processed:

  1. Name
  2. PID number
  3. College
  4. Major
  5. Semester of graduation
  6. Desired semester [Fall, Spring, Summer]
  1. Desired course(s)
  2. Section(s): List only the sections that will fit into your schedule. If you receive a section stated in your e-mail, and it does not work in your schedule, you will have to request another override.
  3. Send your request via e-mail to mgt@msu.edu, or use our web form to submit the request.

NOTE: We process override requests once a week. Check your e-mail. If the request is approved, the department will notify you by e-mail only. If you don't hear from us, it means you are on the waiting list.

IMPORTANT: If your override request is approved, the authorization will remain active for only five (5) days (exception: summer break). After that, the space will be given to the next person on the waiting list and you will have to submit a new override request.

An approved override request does not enroll you in the course. You must go into the Web Enrollment System (WebEnroll) and add the class in order to be registered.

We will not grant adds to full sections for the following reasons:

  1. time conflicts due to work schedule
  2. already have a section with no time conflict
  3. if you are not graduating the semester of the request

Prerequisites/Corequisites for Management Courses:

MGT 315 - business majors only: juniors/seniors only MGT 418 - MGT 315 (concurrently), junior/senior standing
MGT 325 - non-business majors only: juniors/seniors with listed catalog requirement MGT 460 - Human Resources & Mgt Majors only, MGT 315 (concurrently), junior/senior standing
MGT 352 - business majors only, ACC 202, junior/senior standing MGT 474 - (SCM 474) Interdepartmental with Supply Chain Management –business majors only, SCM 371 (concurrently), junior/senior standing (If you wish to have your enrollment in this course appear as MGT 474, enroll in SCM 474 and then contact the MGT department when this class is completed.
MGT 409 - College of Business seniors only, FI 311, MSC 300, MSC 303 & ITM 309 (effective Fall 2009) Must be completed prior to taking 409(NO EXCEPTIONS) MGT 475 - business majors only, MGT 315 (concurrently), junior/senior standing
MGT 411 - business majors only, MGT 315 (concurrently), junior/senior standing MGT 476 - business majors only, MGT 315 (concurrently), junior/senior standing
MGT 412 - business majors only, MGT 315 (concurrently), junior/senior standing MGT 490 - Department approval required (with completed form)
