Three faculty members earn MSU Distinguished Faculty Awards

Three Broad School faculty members - Ernst and Young Professor of Accounting and Information Systems Susan Haka, Eli Broad Professor of Management John Hollenbeck and Marketing and Supply Chain Management Professor Ram Narasimhan - received Michigan State University Distinguished Faculty Awards at the university convocation ceremony Feb. 9. They were among 10 finalists and were selected based on their "teaching skills, research activities and service to department and college."

In addition, Michael J. Mannor II, a PhD candidate in Management, received one of six Excellence-in-Teaching citations at the same awards ceremony.

Haka was cited for her research and scholarly activities, her "exceptional" instructional performance and her public outreach and service, according to her nominators. She has over 20 years of teaching experience, and her research focuses on the role of accounting systems in business processes.

Hollenbeck, a faculty member for more than 20 years, was selected for his impact and visibility in the research community, his innovative teaching style and his service to the department and the college. He is currently the editor of Personnel Psychology, and his research focuses on team decision making and performance, self-regulation theories of work motivation, and employee separation and acquisition processes.

Narasimhan was cited for his knowledge of the industry, his teaching skills, his scholarly activities and his service to his profession. He was also designated a University Distinguished Professor - the highest faculty rank conferred by MSU - in 1998. His main research interests include investigations of dynamic interactions among quality, perceived quality, cost of quality, technology acquisition, pricing and promotion for durable goods.

Mannor was recognized for his strong teaching skills, his significant contributions to the department and his emerging scholarly presence.
