Fifteen Broad student athletes make Spring Academic All-Big Ten Team

The Big Ten Conference recently announced its 2005 Spring Academic All-Big Ten Conference Team, and 59 Spartan undergraduates were among those honored - 15 of them Broad School students. To be eligible for the Academic All-Big Ten team, athletes must be a letterwinner in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

In addition, senior Finance major Nathan Egger was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Men's University Division Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team with a 3.96 GPA.

The following students have business majors, and the faculty and staff of the Eli Broad College of Business salute their tremendous efforts.

  • Sophomore Ryan Basham, baseball player from Lowell, Ind., is a General Management major with a 3.29 GPA.
  • Sophomore Craig Brookes, baseball player from Naperville, Ill., is a Marketing major with at 3.33 GPA.
  • Junior Christen Brown, a rowing team member from Tecumseh, Mich., is a General Management major with a 3.32 GPA.
  • Senior Nathan Egger, a men's track and field team member from Mason, Mich., is a Finance major with a 3.96 GPA.
  • Sophomore Michael Flowers, a men's tennis player from Memphis, Tenn., is a General Management major with a 3.26 GPA.
  • Sophomore Matt Harmon, a men's golf team member from Grand Rapids, Mich., is a Human Resources Management major with a 3.05 GPA.
  • Senior Cameron Marshall, a men's tennis player from Louisville, Ky., is a Finance major with a 3.23 GPA.
  • Sophomore Mitch Pierce, a men's golf team member from Fenton, Mich., is a Finance major with a 3.34 GPA.
  • Sophomore Kristen Polanski, a women's golf team member from Livonia, Mich., is a Finance major with a 3.93 GPA.
  • Sophomore Heather Rose, a women's golf team member from Chillicothe, Ohio, is a Marketing major with a 3.43 GPA.
  • Sophomore Pascale Schnitzer, a women's tennis player from Santiago, Chile, is a General Management major with a 3.88 GPA.
  • Senior Julie Springrose, a rowing team member from Devon, Pa., is a Hospitality Business major with a 3.31 GPA.
  • Senior Anthony Stefani, a men's tennis player from Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich., is an Accounting major with a 3.06 GPA.
  • Sophomore Paula Thoms, a rowing team member from St. Catharines, Ontario, is a General Management major with a 3.37 GPA.
  • Sophomore Adam Tripp, baseball player from Saugus, Cal., is a Finance major with a 3.01 GPA.

Broad's Weekend MBA program expanding to Troy


This fall, in response to student and alumni suggestions, the Weekend MBA program will expand beyond East Lansing, where it has been since 1995, to Troy, at the MSU Management Education Center.
