Bio(s)
- Bethany Rigg is an Associate Director of MBA Career Services Center (CSC) at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management. She is the primary contact for over 100 Weekend MBA (WMBA) candidates. Because weekend students do not have specific academic concentrations but come from a variety of industries and professions, Bethany helps them leverage their previous work experience to achieve their desired career aspirations. She integrates educational and career advising programs, organizes group and individual consultations to discuss career search objectives and coaches students to develop customized career plans. Bethany plays an important role in reaching out to weekend students and encouraging them to use CSC services. Each weekend she is available to answer students’ questions, schedule individual appointments, review resumes, and explain how CSC can be helpful in career development for those who are not familiar with career services.
Bethany facilitates a two part orientation sessions for Weekend MBA students called “Putting Your Career Search on the Fast Track.” The goal of the program is to educate WMBA candidates regarding services offered by CSC, provide introductory instructions regarding resume writing, interviewing tips and preparation for career fairs.
Prior to joining the MBA CSC Bethany worked as a Human Resource Administrator at The Affiliated Delta Dental Plans of Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Among other responsibilities, she recruited and hired executive, management, professional and hourly employees to the company. She also administered healthcare benefits for salaried and hourly employees and retirees, and reduced healthcare spending by over $1M to align healthcare benefits with industry benchmarks. She collaborated with the company’s compensation specialist to ensure compensation integrity throughout the company and yearly alignment with business strategies. Other accomplishments included managing FMLA and monitoring employee absenteeism, which resulted in a 20 percent reduction in chronic absenteeism. And lastly, she launched a learning organization initiative that sparked a corporate culture of collaboration, teamwork, quality service and integrity that resulted in a two year soft skills training initiative, ISO9001 certification, HIPAA compliance and a college internship program for undergraduate and graduate students.
Bethany has a Bachelors Degree in Public Administration and Sociology from Grand Valley State University and completed studies toward Masters Degree in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. She is married with two sons and enjoys bonding with her family during summer camping trips throughout the state of Michigan.
